The Bremen Publisher for Extraordinary Literature
We at SUJET have set a special goal for our work as publisher: We want to realise extraordinary book projects, which overcome any boundaries, may those be physical or lingual, and create working platforms for artists with diverse cultural backgrounds. We are especially interested in transcultural and transnational literature and therefore are keen to support exiled authors in Germany.
“In my mother tongue, Persian, “Sujet” means subject”, explains Madjid Mohit, the owner of SUJET. He chose the name his company Sujet as this phrase perfectly describes his main work field, the exile literature. Madjid Mohit left Iran and came to Germany. That is why he has a special understanding for authors with transcultural backgrounds. In Bremen he established a platform especially for Iranian authors where they can talk and write about topics that are taboo in their home country like politics, sexuality, persecution, migration and integration. Therefore one major section at SUJET is Exile Literature.
“As a publisher my heart beats for the Lyric”, says Madjid Mohit. The lyrical publications of the publishing company can be characterised as a mixture of magnificent poetry and exceptional art. SUJET brings artist together that complement perfectly and create beautiful poetry collections.
Another area of SUJET is international Children’s Literature, including stories from foreign countries and colourful illustrations.
A new section at SUJET is Non-Fiction with topics that are often linked to Bremen.
